Whether you’re new to the RV lifestyle, or if you’ve been RVing for years, there’s a lot to enjoy at your local RV show. With RV vacations at an all-time high in the U.S. and the RV rental market picking up, there are more options than ever to try out the RV life.

An RV show is one of the easiest ways to see the big trends in the market, meet experienced RV campers, and check out all the newest models, from luxurious full-size Class A models to compact camper vans. The best part is, no matter where you are in the country or what time of year it is, there’s bound to be an RV show nearby and on a convenient weekend. Here are the five best reasons we’ve found to check out the next RV show near you.

1. Tour the Coolest RVs

The RV market is experiencing something of a Cambrian explosion right now, and the wealth of styles, from Class As to Class Cs, fifth wheels, tent trailers, toy haulers, and more, can make your head spin. At an RV show, manufacturers and model types are grouped together so you can easily compare and figure out the floor plans and features you prefer. You can ask questions of the knowledgeable dealer and manufacturer reps, and if you make it clear you’re window-shopping (most people at the show are), you won’t get pressured to purchase anything.

2. Pick Up Camping Hacks

Most RVers are seasons tent campers first, and pick up RVing as an extension of that outdoors spirit. RV shows usually feature seminars and tutorials for all sorts of camping skills, from setting up your campsite to cooking over a campfire. You can also talk with campground owners, sample foods prepped with the latest camp cooking technology, and shop for clothing and gear for your next outdoor adventure.

3. Learn the Tricks of a Digital Nomad

The remote-first employment trend doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere soon, which is great if you’re looking for a job you can do from anywhere in your RV or camper. WiFi-equipped campgrounds mean you can log in from wherever your heart takes you while the kids play outside or attend remote schooling. Look for seminars about working from your RV, and technology booths staffed with connectivity experts, at the next RV show you attend.

4. Play With the Newest Outdoor Toys

RV shows are great opportunities to see the newest equipment, toys, and gear from manufacturers. You can find everything from novelties like foldable bikes and solar chargers, to perennial favorites like fishing poles, running gear, and hiking backpacks, to make your next camping weekend even more exciting.

5. Break Down RV Terminology

Especially if you’re new to the RVing life, terms like FHU, gray water, workamping, king pin, and galley might be confusing. Luckily, an RV show is staffed and attended by hundreds of people who love RVs and love to share their knowledge, so you can ask pretty much anybody for a rundown of the new jargon! For systems on a specific model, you can always ask the manufacturer’s event staff to show you the ropes—and you’ll appreciate that newfound knowledge when you head out in your own RV.
