Your First RV Adventure Tips
Did you just purchase your first RV? Maybe it’s your first RV in a long time? Or maybe you’re shopping around and want to learn more. No matter who you are or how experienced you are, things can still be overlooked or forgotten.
Plan Your Route In Advance.
Our first tip is to plan your route in advance. With the lovely technology we have at our fingertips today, we can just input an address and get directions, construction updates, and our arrival time in a second. Some things that your app isn’t going to tell you about are the fun roadside attractions, museums, unique dining experiences and more along the way. Make sure to set some time aside to look out for these, especially on longer trips! It will break up driving time and make the drive to your destination a lot more enjoyable!
Make Your Reservations Ahead of Time.
A lot of times, campgrounds will have space available for a drop-in stay, but during the busy seasons, this can change very quickly. We recommend always booking your site in advance because the last thing you will want to deal with after driving all day is trying to find another RV park with availability! Who knows how much more driving will be added to your destination time!
Consider the Size of Your RV.
A lot of times, RV Parks or Campgrounds have availability for most RV sizes but keep in mind, there are some sizes that may not fit. Always double-check the site parameters and make sure they can house your RV for your planned trip. Although this isn’t a super common issue, it’s important to take it into consideration. This is also important for your route planning. Some destinations can have low-clearance bridges, single-lane roads, and more.
Download Maps.
A big one that people forget is to download maps to the area they will be staying in (or even just an out-of-range destination). This one is easily overlooked because we rely so much on our cellphones and are used to always having service. When traveling to more rural areas, signals can get patchy or even lost completely. Having the map downloaded will help not only with peace of mind but can help finish directing you to your location, as well as keep you from getting lost!
