Day Trips in Oregon in an RV
Oregon is known for its beautiful, greenery nature - probably the most gorgeous state in the Pacific Northwest. Whether you are craving some relaxing nature hikes or a rewarding shopping spree, nothing an RV and a detailed itinerary can’t fulfill in the state of Oregon!
Looking for a little city fun? Portland is a great place to start your RV journey. So compact with city nightlife, fresh brewing coffee and a wide variety of food from affordable street food to high-end restaurants! At the largest and most populous city in Oregon, it’s best known for its parks, bridges and bicycle paths, as well as for its eco-friendliness and its microbreweries and coffeehouses!
Looking to get out of the city for some nature sightseeing? Crater Lake National Park is about 4 hours south of Portland. At Oregon’s only National Park, it is known for its breathtaking crystalline blue water and fresh crisp morning air. Get ready for some hiking and adventure for this one! It is a must-see when visiting Oregon with your family on your RV road trip!
About an hour east of Portland, The Mount Hood National Forest is another wonderful place to hike and camp with your travel companions! Mount Hood, a dormant volcano capped by glaciers, is home to ski trails, alpine lakes and the 1930s Timberline Lodge. At probably the most popular mountain of the western hemisphere, this dormant volcano offers hiking trails, spots for camping and fishing, and nearly year-round skiing! Plan your route and stop by this winter!
Last but not least, just about 3 hours southeast of Portland, Smith Rock State Park in Terrebonne is an amazing place for your hiking, rock climbing, trail running, mountain biking, slacklining, or horseback adventure. As one of the natural wonders of Oregon, this pristine area in the centre of the state is well worth the trip, whether it's for a quick stop to look out from one of the great viewpoints near the park's entrance or to properly explore by heading down into the canyon.
